Things Do Get Better
Chapter 7
I screamed again as I backed into the hallway wall. I fell to my knees. "Oh my god," I whispered as I started to cry. I heard the guys running up the stairs. "What is it? What's wro…" said Joey. He looked into my room and saw why I screamed. There in my room was Mr. Johnson laying on the floor and Mrs. Johnson lying on my bed, both bleeding. They were both dead. Just laying there. JC came over to and held me. I was sobbing hard. Chris had gone into my room and picked up something off the bed. He came back out holding a piece of paper. I looked up at him. "What does it say?" I asked quietly, between sobs. "It says, 'Be careful. This might be you.'" he answered. "We better call the police and report this," said Justin. "We can't," said Chris. "Why not?" "Because it says, 'If you get the police involved, this will definitely be you.'" replied Chris, looking at me with sadness and concern in his eyes. I looked up at him with tears still falling from my eyes. "You better get your stuff, so we can get you outta here," said JC quietly, still holding me. "OK," I said. "You want some help?" "No, I won't take that long," I said. I quickly got up and went into my room. I grabbed 2 bags outta my closet and threw my stuff in them. I started to walk out. I looked at the Johnsons and whispered, "I'm so sorry. I should've told you. I didn't mean for this to happen. I am so, so sorry." I started to cry again as I walked out. Lance and Justin were out in the hallway waiting for me. Lance came over and hugged me. Then Justin said, "C'mon. The other guys went to go get our car back at McDonalds. They should be back any minute." We walked down stairs as we heard the others come in. "You ready to go?" asked Chris. I nodded. We walked out to the car and put my stuff in the back. We got in the car and started our way to the hotel.
