The Killer Angel
Part 9

DING-DING-DING-DING

"Jen, you have the strangest doorbell," I yelled upstairs while heading for the door. She laughed as I opened the door.

"JChiwhatwhat are you doing here?" He didn't say anything for a second.

"Ohuh, I'm here to see Jen. She said she wanted to go to the Hard Rock Café with me."

"Really" JC nodded. "Oh, I'm sorry, come in." He stepped inside. "Jen! JC's here!" She came running down the stairs.

"Hey JC! Oh, I'm so stupid! I invited both of you to go out to lunch on the same day! Well, it's a good thing it's the same restaurant, I guess we'll just have to go together!"

I rolled my eyes. I was going to tell Jen how fake she sounded when she said that and that I knew she what she was up to, but I decided to let her go along with her plan. She got us into her car and drove us to the restaurant. We got there and got a table. The waitress gave us our menus and we ordered.

"HmmmI wonder what's taking our food so long to get ready?" Jen said.

"We just ordered 3 minutes ago."

"Our food should be done by now." She was not paying attention to me. "I think I'll go check."

"Jen-" Too late. She was gone. JC and I sat there silently for a few seconds. I felt really uncomfortable, sitting next to him, not knowing what to say.

"What's up with her?" JC finally asked.

I sighed, quite relieved that I didn't have to break the silence.

"I don't know."

JC and I talked about a bunch of different things for a few minutes before Jen came back.

"They STILL don't have our food ready." I rolled my eyes.

She was really being obnoxious. I knew she wanted the two of us to be alone for a while, but I didn't want to. I didn't want us to be more than just friends. I liked us the way we wereor was it something else?

BACK AT JEN'S HOUSE

"Thank you Jen. I had a really good time."

"Me too!"

"Eliseumcan I talk to you out herealone?" I held my breath.

"Susure." Jen walked into the house, leaving just the 2 of us outside.

"I had a really good time today with you."

"I did too," I replied, smiling.

"I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go to a movie tomorrow with me?"

I felt like I was going to faint. I didn't know what to say. I knew he liked me, but what I didn't know is that I liked him

"OK," I said finally.

"Great! Can I pick you up at 7:00?"

"Sure." He grinned.

"OK, see ya then!" I smiled a really fake smile.

The truth was that I was totally confused. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I really wanted to go out with him. Of course, all my doubtful thoughts all went away when he leaned over and kissed me lightly on the cheek.
