The Killer Angel
Part 1

The water washed over my feet as I sat on the beach. I was watching the sunset. It was beautiful. I closed my eyes and wished I could forget everything that had happened. I slowly opened them again after a second and sighed. I sat there for a few more minutes, just thinking. My thoughts were interrupted when my friend walked down the beach toward me.

"How are you doing?" She asked softly.

"Better, I guess." There was silence.

"Are you ready to go?" she asked, after a minute.

"Yeah." I stood up and followed her down the beach to my car. We got in and she started it up. We were silent the whole ride, just listening to the jazz on the radio. Finally, the car stopped, right in front of a huge house. Mallory and I both got out.

"Wow. Jen must be rich," I commented.

"No, she just inherited this house when her father died."

"Oh, I see." We walked up to the door and Mallory rang the door bell. My old friend, Jen, opened it up.

"Oh my gosh!!! Mallory!!! Elise!!! Come on in!" We did, and she got us both something to drink.

"Oh, Elise, I heard about your brother. I'm so sorry! He was a really nice guy. How are you getting along without him?"

"I'm doing fine." If that wasn't the biggest lie in the world Jen could tell I wasn't really okay, but she didn't push the subject, which I was glad for.

"So, do you want to do something with us tomorrow?" Mallory asked Jen.

"Oh, I can't, I gotta go to work. You can come with me if you'd like, though. I'm sure the guys would love it."

"Sure, that would be cool." Jen was a makeup person. She worked for some singing group or something.

We talked for a while longer. Finally, we decided to go to sleep. She gave both of us a room, one which we'd be staying in for a while. We decided that we would stay with Jen a few days, which was good, because it was saving us some money that would have been used on a hotel. I got my bags out of my car and changed. Then I fell on my bed and cried myself to sleep.
